Walking down the halls at Westwind Elementary you will see a recurring theme; Teamwork makes the dream work. Basketball, football, soccer, baseball and other sports decor surrounds the students on campus, reminding everyone that they are one team with one dream - Seek Perfection...Capture Excellence.

 

Each grade level has found a way to incorporate this sports theme into their math lessons. Working with online programs like Fastt Math and Prodigy, filling in number charts, using hands-on manipulatives to understand math facts and more, students have set personal challenges for themselves to accomplish which will lead to the ultimate reward - Signing Day. 

 

Team Addition or Team Multiplication? Team Subtraction or Team Division? Students aim to join a team by mastering specific math facts through unlocking new levels in Fastt Math, counting to 100, counting by 20's, mastering division facts and more. 

 

Students who meet their goal and level up are able to participate in Signing Day. One by one, each student walks up to their new team and proudly signs their name. It's more than just their name, however, it's proof of dedication and hard work finally paying off. 

 

From the youngest student in Pre-K to the oldest student in fifth-grade, everyone can't wait to get back to work and be able to sign with another team soon.
