At Frenship, leadership development for students, staff, and administrators remains a top priority as the District continues to grow and change. Part of that leadership development includes monthly Professional Learning Communities, or PLCs, for the District’s principals and top administrators.

Through the monthly PLCs, top administrators from the 14 campuses join together to share experiences and expertise to help each grow as leaders and to ultimately find ways to better serve the students.

New this year, the meetings are being hosted at different campuses to help spotlight the culture and work of each campus. This month’s Principal PLC was hosted at Crestview Elementary where they unveiled a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) to promote career awareness with young students.

During the February PLC, principals also got a look at how different teachers across the District engage students with different goal setting methods that help students take ownership of their grades and educational growth.

“I hope that principals learn new ideas, systems, and strategies that they can take back and immediately apply to their campuses,” said Cassandra Slayton, Frenship ISD’s Executive Director of Leadership Development.

Slayton says these meetings help the administrators work together to grow teachers and students while analyzing data to ensure the District is closing the achievement gaps. Principals are able to bounce ideas off each other and discuss what’s working at their campuses and ways they’re looking to improve.

“I hope these principals feel affirmed, but also inspired to grow to new heights,” said Slayton.

From the newest principals to the most seasoned administrators, they all have one unified goal – create a thriving environment where learners maximize their potential and emerge as empowered, equipped, and diverse leaders who engage and collaborate to positively impact communities. These PLCs are just one more way Frenship is pushing students and staff to ‘Seek Perfection – Capture Excellence’.
