Currently, Frenship ISD’s CTE program includes 92 CTE courses across more than 20 programs of study that prepare students for high-demand careers in industries such as education, agriculture, business, information technology, culinary, health sciences, architecture, construction, automotive, and much more. In her new role as Frenship ISD’s CTE Coordinator, Florez will oversee those programs, support teachers, and implement districtwide CTE initiatives including career awareness at the elementary level, career exploration in the middle schools, and hands-on career training for high school students.

“I am very passionate about CTE programs and how they prepare students with the skillset to be college ready, career ready, and life ready,” said Florez. “I am looking forward to growing existing CTE programs and developing new program opportunities for students, like our new plumbing program.”

While she is new to Frenship, Florez is no stranger to the CTE world. She says that love of CTE and the education field began at a young age when she was enrolled in CTE classes during high school.

“My father is a Spanish teacher, so he really inspired me to pursue the field of education as a career. I chose to pursue my teaching certification in Family and Consumer Sciences because I absolutely loved my high school Family and Consumer Sciences teachers and really enjoyed the courses,” explained Florez.

Turning that passion into a career, Florez is the prime example of how a successful CTE program can shape a student’s career path. From taking CTE courses as a student to now leading the Frenship CTE program, Florez says she is excited to help Frenship students find their own passion for their future careers.

“I am honored to serve in this role and look forward to working with students, parents, and teachers in the district,” said Florez. “I hope to impact students by providing real world and hands-on learning experiences that will prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed for high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand jobs.”

Florez is a west Texas native from Snyder. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University. Florez and her husband Alberto have a young daughter, Mila, who is a future Frenship Tiger.
