Throughout her educational career, Powell has served in various positions that include elementary teacher, mentor teacher, peer coach, assistant principal, and principal. Her professional background includes 14 years of experience in educational leadership, including her most recent role as an assistant principal at Lubbock ISD.
“I am eager to collaborate with our dedicated staff, parents, and the community as we work together to create strong, dynamic, and collaborative systems that ensure both academic and social emotional success for every student,” said Powell. “This responsibility is one I hold close to my heart and look forward to learning with integrity, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to our Frenship community.”
After teaching and working in school administration for 19 years in California while her husband served in the Marine Corp, Powell and her family moved back to the Lubbock area in 2018. Powell and her husband have three sons with the oldest being a proud Frenship High School graduate.
Powell takes on this new role after Brandy Copeland, Westwind Principal since 2020, was named the principal of Frenship’s ninth elementary school that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024.
