Frenship Students Attend Lubbock Symphony Orchestra

Students from all four middle schools and Frenship High School embarked on a journey to the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences to experience the incredible sounds of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.

These orchestra students were invited for an educational concert for students put on by the symphony orchestra. The concert featured selections from Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto among other selections. The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra provides this opportunity free of charge for students.

Darcy Radcliffe, Orchestra Director for Frenship ISD, stated that it Is vital for student musicians to be exposed to live music.

“I believe that it’s important to give our new Frenship ISD orchestra students a live full-orchestra concert experience so that their knowledge deepens, and their appreciation of orchestral literature grows,” said Radcliffe. “Experiences like this will give orchestra students something to aim for.  Plus, not every community has such a wonderful local symphony!”

In addition to the secondary students attending the concert, Westwind Elementary sent their fifth-grade class to experience beautiful music and cultural enrichment the symphony has to offer. This unforgettable experience's purpose is to introduce the students to the world orchestra, which they will have an opportunity to join next year when they enter middle school.
