Rasberry first heard about published classroom books from other teachers. She quickly decided this was an activity her students would love to do and turned to Studentreasures Publishing for guidance. 

Studentreasures Publishing believes every child should experience the excitement and satisfaction of becoming a published author. They provide teachers and schools with a free, hands-on writing activity that motivates students to write and inspires students to learn by turning their stories into professionally bound books. 

Each student in Rasberry’s class picked their animal and did research about it online. They wrote a rough draft and then completed a final copy of the paper provided by the publishers. Additionally, they each illustrated their animals for the final draft. 

Once the final draft was complete, they mailed it back to Studentreasures Publishing, who printed it. Rasberry stated this process was exciting for the students to witness. 

“This is such a great opportunity for our students to see the writing process from beginning to end and take pride in their work and how much they have grown and accomplished by becoming writers this year,” said Rasberry.

Rasberry’s class book will be available to anyone who would like to read it in the Westwind Library!
