Not Alone: Frenship Student Supports Teacher During Cancer Battle

Westwind kindergarten teacher, Kim Ivie, was given the news she had breast cancer last summer. When a former student of Ivie’s heard about her diagnosis, she knew she wanted to help.

Bailey McClanahan, ninth grade student at Frenship and Ivie’s former student, came to Westwind today with a special delivery. Bailey and her mom had a shirt for Ivie that reads: Faith Over Fear.

Bailey designed and created the shirt for her teacher, which was a theme for Ivie during her surgery and recovery. Bailey and her brother both had Mrs. Ivie as their kindergarten teacher. Her brother is now a fifth grader in the Frenship district.

Mrs. Ivie said,”You hope you touch students’ lives, but they sure touch ours.”
