Each year around this time, students typically learn about Christmas and holiday traditions. This year second grade students at North Ridge and ESL students at Westwind are learning about how the rest of the world celebrates during the holiday season.

This week Frenship students, along with the Rotary Club of Lubbock and several other community business partners, filled backpacks with food for students over the extended holiday break.

One Visually Impaired (VI) teacher at Frenship was inspired to help students through her son, who was born with cataracts. She, and her part-time colleague, instruct 20 VI students across the district.

Last Friday on December 4, Westwind Elementary celebrated the day they opened their doors back in 1995. In fact, three current teachers remember that day well, as they were there on Westwind’s first day.

Chelsey Cook, counselor at Heritage Middle School, is preparing for the future to help students cope with the effects and anxieties that have been brought about by COVID-19.

The mentor program at FHS is made up of more than 100 students who serve elementary and middle school students across 11 campuses. The mentors each have two mentees, and in some cases more!

The Lubbock Lion’s Club held a county-wide Drug Awareness poster decoration contest for third, fourth, and fifth graders last month. Over 70 students across Lubbock participated, and Westwind fourth grader, Connor Sandell, won first place overall!

As a passionate and dedicated educator and leader, fifth grade Dual Language teacher Robert Nunez was selected as Frenship's nomination for the 2021 LCU Distinguished Educator of Lubbock County award.

Lorrie Crain, Virtual Learning teacher at Westwind Elementary, has made it her priority to keep her students stay engaged and connected. When the school year began, she wanted her students to get to know each other the same way they would in a face-to-face setting.
