During the February 15 school board meeting, the Frenship ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the District’s 2021-2022 Academic Calendar.

Students involved in the Gifted and Talented (GT) program at Legacy Elementary dove deeper into their annual theme of “Communication” by learning about the Gutenberg Printing Press. Throughout the year they have also studied Morse Code, Braille and Sign Language, and the NATO phonetic alphabet.

Donning their Frenship gear and wearing a smile, more than 70 Frenship students spent their Saturday helping the Boys and Girls Club of Lubbock hand out more than 1,200 boxes of free food to community members in need.

With 24 dedicated years in education, Westwind Elementary Assistant Principal Rhonda Coursey has undoubtedly impacted countless lives. She doesn’t do it for the recognition, but there was no way her peers and students were going to pass up the opportunity to celebrate her incredible achievement.

During the month of February, designated as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, Frenship ISD is excited to recognize the highly successful CTE program that is shaping Frenship students’ futures.

On Saturday, February 6, more than 1,000 free boxes of fresh produce, meat, and dairy products will be available for children and families in Lubbock County.

Along with a group of 27 teachers from 25 different districts in West Texas, two Frenship educators completed their training for Project TEDD: Training Educators in Dual Diagnosis through a training program hosted by Texas Tech University.

Students in Amber Kendrick’s Westwind first grade class learned about rocks, soil and water through the hands-on experience of rock investigation last week.

Before the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the state mandated through House Bill 3, that all Kindergarten through third grade teachers take the new Texas Reading Academy, an 11 month professional development course that all K-3 teachers are required to complete by 2023.
