Hello and Welcome to Westwind!

My name is Dawn Powell, and I am truly honored to be part of the Frenship Family. With over 20 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles that have strengthened my commitment to creating collaborative, supportive, and innovative learning environments where students thrive. Throughout my career, I have worked to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families, always with the goal of improving student outcomes and elevating school performance.

In 2018, my family and I relocated to Lubbock from San Diego, California. Why Lubbock? My husband, a proud native of Lorenzo, Texas, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, which brought him to San Diego, where our story began. Today, we are blessed with three wonderful boys, three horses, and two dogs, and we cherish the sense of community and connection that life in West Texas provides.

I enjoy working alongside our Westwind Family as we continue to inspire learning, foster growth, and celebrate success together.
