The Central Office annual Chili Cook-Off is back, serving up warm bowls and an even warmer welcome for new teachers. With plenty of flavors and friendly competition, this event is all about showing first year educators they’re part of the Frenship family.

This year, students at North Ridge Elementary carved out some time to get into the fall spirit, transforming pumpkins into their favorite book characters. With a gourd-geous display of creativity, 84 pumpkins were submitted, turning the school into a literary pumpkin patch.

In honor of October being National Fire Safety Month, students at Oak Ridge Elementary and Crestview Elementary learned about fire prevention and safety from local fire fighters.

This past weekend, Frenship hosted its annual Wellness Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness at Peoples Bank Stadium. The Frenship Community gathered together to honor those who have fought and are currently fighting against breast cancer.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 until October 15 every year. Through interactive lessons and events, teachers across the district are honoring Hispanic histories, cultures, and heritage every day.

Recently, three Frenship siblings had a very special surprise in the middle of their school day. Their dad returned home from his six-month deployment in Saudi Arabia, and his first stop was to surprise his children. Tears of joy filled each of their eyes when reuniting with him.

Last week, students from Willow Bend Elementary and Terra Vista Middle School put their spelling skills to the test at the District Spanish Spelling Bee. The top spellers will advance to the Regional Spanish Spelling Bee next month.

This month’s theme for Mental Health Minute is Connection. As a component of the 2021 Strategic Plan Initiative, the goal of the Mental Health Minute is to spread awareness of mental health across the Frenship District.

Throughout the month of September and into October all four Frenship middle schools and Frenship High School have been prioritizing mental health and suicide prevention awareness through educational programs and community initiatives.

Students at Westwind Elementary are making learning exciting with a unique lesson designed to teach them how to identify the main idea in informational texts.
